As AgriSafe’s Total Farmer Health Director and AgriSafe’s mental health lead, Dr. Tara Haskins is passionate about rural communities and the healthcare professionals that serve them. She lives in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Haskins has 35 years of experience as a registered nurse with over 17 years in healthcare education and is a 2018 AgriSafe Nurse Scholar. Dr. Haskins is a certified CALM Instructor and QPR Instructor
She holds a Masters in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Forensics from the University of Tennessee at Memphis Health Science Center. Dr. Haskins is a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association and a board-certified Advanced Holistic Nurse. As a National Rural Health Association Fellow, she worked to coauthor NRHA’s Disaster Preparedness in Rural Communities policy paper. She regularly advocates in Washington for policies to improve rural healthcare delivery as a National Rural Health Association member.
Her goal is simple: create health opportunities for well-being that creatively navigate barriers and build on the strengths that already exist in rural communities.
