Lisa grew up on a farm property in Litchfield County, CT. She was a 4-H and Grange member and developed an appreciation for growing early on, leading to study in Horticulture at Naugatuck Valley Community College. She worked in landscape design, project management and as an assistant grower in local greenhouses. She owned a commercial greenhouse building company for over ten years serving agricultural producers nationwide. Lisa was active with the NYS farm bureau and attended the State University of New York at Stonybrook achieving a BA in political science with a concentration of law and public policy. She held a temporary appointment with the NYS assembly serving constituents through local and state government contacts and services. She then attended the University of New Haven and achieved an MA degree with Psi Chi honors in community psychology with a clinical concentration. She completed a graduate assistantship in the UNH disabilities and counseling office and she completed a program evaluation with City Seed Farmers Markets, Wooster Square, New Haven, CT. Lisa then worked in several settings including psychiatric group homes, hospitals, agencies, rehabs and private practice-focus with military and safety sensitive occupations. She has credentialed expertise in substance use disorders and is personally involved in recovery. She has served on the board of Connecticut Association for Addiction Professionals (CAAP), the state chapter of the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors (NAADAC) as communications chairperson. She is a member of NAMI and NAADAC.
