Brian Hammer is a Senior Transportation Risk Management Consultant for Nationwide Insurance. He has been with the Agribusiness unit for 16 years and develops programs to help clients in developing their fleet safety culture.

Prior to joining Nationwide, Brian was a Safety Manager with Yellow Transportation. He is also a retired police officer, serving over 20 years, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant.

Brian has been actively involved in the American Society of Safety Professionals, holding several positions, including Transportation Practice Administrator, Area Director and most recently, the chair of the Standards Development Committee.

Brian sits on several ANSI standards committees, most notably the Z15.1 Safe Motor Vehicle Operations and Chair of the ASSP Active Shooter TR Z590.1 committee.

He holds the designation of Certified Director of Safety (CDS) from the North American Transportation Management Institute.

He graduated from the University of Iowa with a Masters Degree in Public Administration in 1985.

He worked a family farm that spanned the Iowa/Illinois border growing corn, beans, tomatoes and raising hogs.
