Forming an AgriSafe State Affiliate
While there is no standard protocol for state affiliate formation, here are a few helpful hints which may assist you….
- Assemble a nucleus group of statewide individuals committed to improve the health of farm families.
- Examine whether your consortium shares the same mission and vision of AgriSafe
- Perform a SWOT analysis to determine true value of state affiliate
- Identify a lead agency
- Carefully review state affiliate agreement
- Apply to the AgriSafe Network for state affiliate status

Potential Goals for the First Year

Determine frequency of consortium meetings, times and locations

Identify and secure funding resources to sustain 40 credit hour Agricultural health training program

Identify and secure funding resources to accomplish 2nd year goals

Update website with AgriSafe logo, resources and marketing materials

Publish an e- newsletter and/or other publications to keep rural health professionals in your state informed. If agency already has e-newsletter, hold a special column for AgriSafe health professionals every publication

Develop a strategic plan
AgriSafe Technical Assistance
AgriSafe will provide technical assistance to future or current AgriSafe State Affiliates. Technical assistance for each state may include:
- Conducting a strategic planning process to develop AgriSafe services among state-level stakeholders.
- Modifying AgriSafe services as needed for the cultural diversity and agricultural health and safety needs of each state
- Working with insurance companies to review and construct a third party payment stream for AgriSafe clinical services
- Integrating AgriSafe services into the local health care organizations
- Development of a sustainability/business plan
